Our Story
Basalt started with a simple idea — build a space where we could record the music we love making, and invite others to do the same. We're two brothers from the Pacific Northwest on an 18-month journey from passionate hobbyists to capable audio engineers.
The name comes from our father's home on the island of Terceira in the Azores — volcanic rock formed when raw energy cools into something permanent. That's what we do with sound. We take the raw energy of a performance and turn it into something solid you can keep.
The Space
The Room
Our dedicated studio space features a permanent drum setup in a 10' × 12' live room with custom acoustic treatment — foam panels along the walls and ceiling tuned to tame reflections while keeping the room alive. The kit is always session-ready, so we can go from idea to tape in minutes.
The control side runs through a Tascam Model 24 multi-track recording console into Logic Pro, with Yamaha HS5 monitors for mixing and a hybrid analog/digital signal path that gives every recording warmth and clarity.
